Description

Yeah, man. Before the PPG series premiered on Cartoon Network, and WAAAAY before the PPG anime series, my two friends and I had already created six ridiculous audio dramas featuring Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup, and eleven other original PPG.

The story behind this piece of crap is REALLY TL;DR.

The short version:

In 1996, my former friend Nicole and I did our third Powerpuff Girls "movie", in which Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup, and our three original characters Bottles (orange), Brooks (purple) and Boxes (yellow), traveled to a distant land and managed to pick up four NEW PPG.

It was a disaster, though. We got bored halfway through and the entire second half of the movie consisted of Nicole (in character as Blossom, Bottles or Brooks) talking to my (RL) cats.

And then, the tape broke. So, whatever. It sucked anyway.

THEN, in early 1998, I decided to remake PPG 3 all alone. It turned out pretty good.

Then THAT tape broke. Oops.

The plot of PPG 3 is... actually, I don't even remember. The PPG are about 13, and they've turned into regular looking young women, and their outfits have evolved. They also ended up with very Sailormoon-like attacks and transformations and everything.

There was some crap with Brooks and Boxes turning evil... and some more crap. And I don't even remember.

As for the people in the poster:

At the top are the three villains in the movie. I have NO idea who the guy is. The female deer (with antlers, yes. But the antlers serve as antennae that hypnotize people) is Mindsweeper. She's a janitor when she's not trying to take over the world. (OMG GET IT? MindSWEEPER? She's a JANITOR? And she hypnotizes people?! OMG?!)

The fox is Thundra. She's not a janitor. She's just a sadistic bitch. Her power comes from thunder.

The Powerpuff Girls, from left, are:

Balloons (in magenta). She was based on me. She and I had the same hairstyle when I created her in 1996. She's really depressed and deadpan (contrary to the way she looks in this). She's pretty useless.

Books (in white). My favorite original PPG. She has Sailor Moon's hair, but she's actually quite a badass. I created her in 1996, too.

Brooks (purple). I keep kind of forgetting she exists. Originally, she was meant to die in PPG 6. She doesn't do a whole lot, except cook.

Bubbles, actual PPG character.

Blossom, actual PPG character. She ended up losing her position as leader to Bottles, becoming rather shallow in her teenage years. Yeah, it's sad, man. She was never again as dependable and fierce as she was in kindergarten.

And do her boobs suck in this picture? YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN. I did not really understand how to draw... um... anything. Clearly.

Buttercup, actual PPG character.

Boxes (in yellow). My second favorite original character. I'm not even sure why, now. She and Books enjoyed teaming up to break the law.

Bottles (in orange). My best friend Cindy's favorite character. It was Cindy's idea to promote Bottles to leader. Hell if Bottles didn't make a much better leader once the PPG entered their teen years.

Batty (in brown). A grunge queen. Never washed her hair and enjoyed partying.

Blocks (in the red and yellow leotard). Blocks was the Red PPG. She didn't have a whole lot of personality, but she kind of had a cool design. Red dress and wavy black hair. Yeah, she was pretty.

The cat is Roxie, Buttercup's cat. The dog is Doxie, Bubbles' dog. The yellow-skinned girl is Jamco, a resident of Trapezoidia, an alternate dimension. Roxie, Doxie and Jamco sort of played the role of mentors/technical consultants. I THINK Jamco created their powers or some BS like that.

And I have drawn more PPG drawings than probably ANY other series in my entire life. If I were to scan them all, it would come to well over five hundred. Jeez!

I don't know what the plane is supposed to symbolize.

Also, I didn't mention Blossom's new hairstyle. I did this because in 1995-98, before the series premiered, there was hardly any reference art of the BACK of Blossom's head. No merchandise and the 2 cartoons didn't show her hairstyle in detail. So I truly did not know what her hair looked like, what it did. Was it loose? Was it in a ponytail? For years, it just looked like something that stuck out from her back at a weird angle.

Well, I couldn't keep drawing THAT. So I eventually changed it to the hoops.

I also couldn't figure out how to make Bubbles' pigtails work, so her hair got a lot longer and was either up in a bun all the time, or long pigtails. I got really lucky here.
